Dental jewellery: which teeth can be applied on?

Application of dental jewellery is possible for any tooth with an intact enamel layer, since the back of gems is flat. It is important that its stress and connection with other teeth is avoided, and it should also be clearly visible. Usually, one piece is applied on the one side of the upper dentition, mostly in the lower third of tooth number 2.

How is dental jewellery applied?

Application is quick and easy; it is performed via gluing, thus, does not need drilling of the tooth. The surface of the selected tooth is completely dried, then the gem is fixed to the tooth with a polymerization lamp and cement used for glueing cosmetic fillings. This procedure takes approximately 15 minutes only.

Application of dental jewellery: how long may it be worn?

A dental jewellery may be removed at any time, as requested (it is worth seeking the help of a dentist for this). If you take good care of it, it will stay on the tooth for up to 1 year. For this you need to follow a few rules:

  • for example, you should avoid biting hard foods (apple, chocolate etc.), since these may easily snap off the gem from the tooth surface
  • when brushing your teeth, you should brush the surface of the respective tooth more carefully, but just as thoroughly.
